LG Holiday Tour Shows How to Make the Holidays a ‘Season of Ease’

BY Cam Gordon ON Oct 12, 2010 | No Comments

LG Electronics took Toronto’s financial district by storm as part of its 2010 holiday tour. From the friendly confines of the Design Exchange, LG hosted over 30 of Canada’s top print journalists and online influencers, providing guests with a glimpse at the latest gift ideas from LG.

The theme of the event was “Make your holidays a ‘season of ease’” with LG’s Frank Lee demonstrating networked home entertainment solutions and the newest LG mobile products for excited attendees. LG 3D HDTVs and home theatre systems were a definite hit, but the MVP of the event was the Canadian debut of LG’s new Optimus smart phones, featuring the much buzzed-about Windows 7 operating system. This was the first opportunity for Canadian media to see a Windows 7 mobile device in person and they collectively marvelled at these phones’ advanced functionality—more than one attendee pontificated that perhaps it was time to trade in their iPhone!

Frank met with a range of guests during the daytime portion of the event, including journalists from the Globe and Mail, Toronto Star, Canadian Living and Style at Home plus a visit from Canadian alt-rock radio royalty Alan Cross.  The event portion saw top bloggers mix and mingle, with guests from Future Shop Forums, HowardForums and blogTO checking out the technology and getting some “face time” with the Windows 7 phones.

If the reaction on Twitter alone is any indication, expect LG products to be making multiple appearances on Canadian “wish lists” this holiday season.

Kobo WIFI wows at launch event

BY Angelika Rau ON Oct 08, 2010 | No Comments

An event that brings together 25 of the media’s brightest minds can only mean one thing: news is about to be made.

Hosted at the luxurious Hazelton Hotel, both Kobo CEO Michael Serbinis and newly appointed CMO Marina Glogovac were on hand to announce the newest member to the Kobo family: Kobo WIFI, a web enabled eReader, now available in 3 stylish colours – Onyx, Pearlized Lilac, and Metallic Silver.

With faster page turns, extended battery life, and access to the Kobo eBook store straight from the eReading device, media were both intrigued and excited to get their hands on the new devices.

Even with delicious hors d’oeuvrs and signature Kobo blue cocktails, media kept their eyes on the prize. With Kobo staff on hand, media were able to give the new eReaders a test drive, and were nothing but thrilled with the updates and changes Kobo made.

A steamy affair starring a washer and a dryer

BY Kristy Pryma ON Oct 04, 2010 | No Comments

It was a steamy affair at the ultra-chic SOHO Metropolitan penthouse recently for those in attendance of the official LG SteamWasher and Dryer launch.

Touted by LG spokesperson Frank Lee as the “most energy efficient units available in retailers” today, Frank demoed the sleek machines and regaled those in attendance (including Yummy Mummy Racheal McCaig and blogger extraordinaire Casie Stewart) on “personal washing mishaps.”

The SteamWasher launch was highlighted by a special appearance by hot Canadian designer Brandon Dwyer, who offered fashion tips and tricks to maintaining your ready-to-wear clothes.

(Favourite tip from Brandon— spray hairspray on sparkly clothing so it doesn’t get on your other clothes in the wash!)

As seen on the LG Electronics Facebook page, the event ended at the top of the swanky penthouse with a little mingling, hors d’oeuvres and a beautiful view of the city of Toronto.
