On April 6th  High Road was there as Disney Interactive Studios opened the vault at One King West, hidden below the streets of Toronto to showcase the upcoming 2011 line-up of video games.

To make the evening extra special media were encouraged to bring their children along. Everyone spent the evening interacting with familiar Disney characters on screen by playing LEGO Pirates of the Caribbean, Cars 2: The Video Game and Phineas and Ferb: Across the Second Dimension.

Media and their children immersed themselves in a world only Disney can create complete with a table full of candy and kid friendly drinks, including “Pirates Potion, CHROME, and Agent P.”

Media also had the opportunity to chat with Jon Warner of Avalanche Games, who conducted 1:1 briefings about Cars 2 The Video Game taking journalists on an epic secret mission with CHROME (Command Headquarters for Recon Operations and Motorized Espionage).

The event was a huge hit, creating positive buzz and anticipation in advance to the 2011 launch dates of the three upcoming titles.

TRON fever has officially hit Toronto. Last week, Disney Interactive Studios had media step in to Flynn’s grid to get an early look at Tron: Evolution which is launching on December 7th. Held at the Disney Interactive Studios Canada office, media were able to get a hands on experience and check out the cool new 3D features before anyone else.

Game Director, Darren Hedges and Senior Art Director, David Patch from Propaganda Games hosted media and really gave them an inside look at the game and what it was like working with Olivia Wilde, Bruce Boxleitner and Daft Punk.

On top of the game, we were able to show off some of the cool Tron swag that is coming out as well. Spinmaster and PDP generously offered up some of the collector items and the cool Tron PSP controller which were a huge hit!

An Epic Event

Coming out of E3, it is no doubt that Disney Epic Mickey is one of the most highly anticipated games to launch before the end of 2010. For the first time in gaming history, one of the world’s most iconic characters, the mouse himself, will be a playable character. Coupling Mickey Mouse with the game being designed by industry luminary Warren Spector, it was not a surprise that some Canada’s top journalists were dying to step in to Wasteland to give Disney Epic Mickey a test drive.

On Tuesday October 12th, Disney Interactive Studios Canada hosted a successful three-part preview day for Disney Epic Mickey in Toronto, featuring special guest Warren Spector. The day kicked off with Warren appearing on Canada’s largest morning show, Canada AM. Warren then met one-on-one with all top-tier Canadian print and broadcast media throughout the day, followed by a cocktail-style preview event located in a trendy gallery in downtown Toronto. Media, retail partners and influencers joined DIS for an evening of demos and hands-on game play, while being entertained by the painting talents of Disney artist Joe Yakovetic and to tunes spun by a hip Toronto DJ. The event was a huge hit, creating positive buzz and anticipation in advance of the launch of Disney Epic Mickey in Canada on November 30th.
