So were the more than 300 folks in attendance at The Smirnoff Experience Graphic Party that happened July 19th at the snazzy Andrew Richard Designs Building.

All guests had received cryptically mysterious invitations embracing an iconic comic book theme – with super secret instructions to call ‘Scarlett’ and RSVP weeks before the event date – so the hype and expectations were high.

It’s safe to say that the event was an exclusive and truly unique experience.

Add a funky four-colour comics motif, endless Smirnoff-infused cocktails, a fun photo booth and a surprise appearance by the enigmatic progressive house and electro house producer Deadmau5 – and you had a crowd thirsty for their next Smirnoff Experience.

Press Release 2.0: The Social Media Release

BY Jessica Draker ON Feb 13, 2009 | No Comments

Press releases are often considered the bread and butter of any PR campaign in which all other activities are built upon. But bread and butter are becoming increasingly boring to journalists and bloggers with a more sophisticated media palate.

Social media releases are gaining ground with the proliferation of social media networks, blogs and online media outlets. Many companies like using social media releases because they can add photos, video clips, links, podcasts and can even post responses to viewer comments. But most importantly, this format helps ensure reporters and bloggers have a wealth of content to draw from in real-time

In a time when even traditional print outlets are moving content online, social media releases give journalists a range of multimedia content – which is becoming increasingly prevalent on news websites. In the blogosphere, competition to post first can be fierce. Social media releases can help ensure bloggers can quickly and easily access visual and written content to embed within their blogs.

Whether social media releases will fully replace traditional releases is still unknown – but there are clear benefits to both formats. However, there’s no doubt the adoption of social media releases will continue to increase as more attention is focused online.
